World Athletics Championships: Alice Finot in the steeplechase final

France record holder Alice Finot qualified for the final of the 3000m steeplechase at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest on Wednesday. Finot, 4th in his series in 9 min 20 sec 27, will play the final on Sunday, after having already participated in 2022 in Eugene (Oregon, United States), for a 10th place. She also passed the Olympic minima (9:23.00), making herself eligible for the Paris Games next year.

“Halfway through the race I looked up to see if we were detached, indeed we had left (in) a group of five, so I managed the effort, I had no interest in doing a final sprint . Then I realized that I was on the basics of the Olympic minima, so I didn't slow down so much. I succeeded in both, I'm super happy,” she commented. Flavie Renouard, on the other hand, stops in the series, after her 9th place (9:39.91).

In the hammer throw, Rose Loga and Alexandra Tavernier were eliminated in qualifying with best throws at 67.95m and 70.19m. Cyréna Samba-Mayela, world champion in the 60m indoor hurdles in 2021, was eliminated in the semi-finals of the 100m hurdles with a time of 12 sec 95 (-0.7 m/s wind).
