“Ultramodern trains”. This is the promise made by the Spanish company Renfe, competitor of SNCF, with the launch of its thirty new AVE S-106 high-speed trains (for Alta Velocidad Espanola, the equivalent of TGVs). Built by the Talgo company, 10 of them will be launched in Spain on May 21.
The latter are described as “the most modern fleet in Europe” by the company in a press release published at the end of April. Because in these famous trains, the company wants to offer quality transport to its customers. No more travel times considered sometimes too long on the train... To make your journey enjoyable, the company promises touch screens for each passenger seat, like those that can exist on planes. With the possibility of watching films there.
Renfe also intends to be able to transport more passengers with its new S-106 train models. In the latter, the trains are equipped with twelve cars with comfort spaces equipped with 2 2 seats, as well as standard spaces designed with 3 2 seats and tourist spaces.
The objective for the Spanish company is to continue to enter the French railway market, now open to competition. “The large capacity of the new trains, with more than 500 seats per unit, will allow the Spanish company to quadruple the number of seats offered in France,” Renfe said in its press release.
The Spanish company wants to extend its TGV services to the Paris-Lyon-Marseille and Paris-Barcelona routes. Since last July, the company has already been operating daily connections on the Lyon-Barcelona and Marseille-Madrid lines.
