The Dane Holger Rune, 11th in the world, qualified for the quarter-finals of the ATP 250 tournament in Brisbane (Australia) by beating the Russian Alexander Shevchenko (48th) 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 on Wednesday.
The No.1 seed, aged 20, needed three sets and 2h25 of play to clinch his ticket.
During the first round, the Dane had already had to battle against the Australian Max Purcell (45th) 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
In the quarters, Rune will face another Australian, James Duckworth (116th).
