West Ham left a run of six matches without a win in the league behind them by beating Brentford, another London team, 4-2 on Monday to close matchday 26. The “Hammers” move up to eighth place, tied on points with Brighton (7th, 39 points), overtaking Newcastle (10th, 37 pts) and Wolverhampton (9th, 38 pts).
The East London club took advantage of a hat-trick from Jarrod Bowen (5th, 7th, 63rd) and a goal from Ederson (69th) to win against Neal Maupay's Brentford (13th, 2- 1) and Yoane Wissa (82nd, 4-2).
The victory eases the pressure around the team led by David Moyes who, after three draws, had suffered three defeats against Manchester United (3-0), Arsenal (6-0) and Nottingham Forest (2-0) without scoring the slightest goal.
Brentford, on the other hand, are sixteenth with only five points ahead of Luton, first relegated and who have one more match to play.
