Paris 2024 Olympics: Thierry Henry plans to prioritize Mbappé, Griezmann and Giroud

Places are expensive within the French football team which will compete in the Olympic Games this summer (July 26-August 11). The coach, Thierry Henry, can only call up three players over the age of 23 to complete his youth squad. Several A team executives and former internationals have come forward in recent months. The latest one? Dimitri Payet (36 years old, 38 caps), Friday in the columns of L’Equipe.

But according to information from Le Parisien , Thierry Henry has already put three names at the top of the list: Kylian Mbappé, Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud. All three dream of participating in the party and must still obtain the agreement of the clubs, which are not forced to let them compete in this competition located outside FIFA dates.

The wish of Mbappé (25 years old, 75 caps) and Giroud (37 years old, 129 caps) to play the Olympic Games in France has been known for a long time. Griezmann (32 years old, 127 caps), for his part, came out of the woods at the end of February in the columns of Le Monde. He expressed his desire to “do everything to participate” and admitted to counting on a favor from his club, Atlético Madrid, for services rendered. “I will have a discussion with the leaders, in due time, to find out if they will let me go,” he explained.

While awaiting the verdict, Mbappé, Griezmann and Giroud will undoubtedly appear in the list of players called up to the France A team by Didier Deschamps this Thursday, March 14. Three away from the Euro (June 14-July 14), the Blues face Germany in a friendly on March 23 in Lyon and Chile on March 26 in Marseille.
