Oppo Reno 8 Pro 5G: we tested the best mid-range phone of the moment

But there are many players in the market and it is appreciated to see launches like the Oppo Reno 8 Pro, with more contained prices in a team that aims high, both in design and in power as well as in camera.

Testing mobile cameras, when you do it on a recurring basis, can be boring, since innovations are usually quite scarce. But from time to time a mobile appears with eye-catching lenses and that Oppo exploits to the fullest with its Marisilicon X chip.

Oppo focuses on its main lens, 50 Mpx (Sony IMX766 sensor) and accompanies it with a wide angle and a macro lens on the back, and a 32 Mpx front lens for selfies.

In night mode, the hand of Oppo's chip to improve images is also quite noticeable.

MariSilicon also improves the video section, allowing 4K Ultra Night video and 4K Ultra HDR video.

In the camera tests, where backlighting, low light and some games with portrait mode have been the stars, the results have seemed very satisfactory, even when compared to the new iPhone 14 Pro.

In addition, Oppo is clear that originality is a point in favor and the games in photography with color, black and white backgrounds or even videos in selective colors (Crimson, Forest Green or Sky Blue) will convince those who are looking for likes on networks

Oppo has sought differentiation in the finish of its equipment with a rear where the absolute protagonists are the lenses, especially due to the large size of the camera module (perhaps too much). But to hide the large size, the company opts for a module in which we do not see a straight step that separates the back of the lenses, but rather there is a certain continuity and it is pleasant to the touch and to the eye. A style that Oppo has decided to take from its high-end range and apply to its Reno 8.

Also, the phone is light and with a comfortable grip, and it is also sold in a green (in addition to black) that attracts attention. Of course, it does not come with a transparent cover in the box and the device is not IPX68 certified.

As for the screen, we are facing a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel that is very symmetrical in its frames and with an adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate. Under this panel, the fingerprint sensor is hidden, which, unlike other sensors of this style, has worked perfectly and with hardly any failures. It also has facial recognition unlocking.

The power of the Oppo Reno8 is in the hands of the MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX processor, a very powerful chip that offers great performance, which is accompanied by 256Gb of storage and 8Gb of Ram.

As for the battery, 4,500 mAh that allow a day of intense use without problems, and also has a fast charge of 80W (charger included) that allows a full charge in just over 30 minutes.
