NBA: Kevin Porter Jr. arrested for domestic violence

American basketball player Kevin Porter Jr., point guard or guard for the Houston Rockets, was arrested Monday in New York for alleged assault and strangulation of his girlfriend in a hotel room, American media report citing police sources.

The 23-year-old was taken into police custody while the victim, suffering from neck pain and a cut to the face, was hospitalized.

Locked out of his hotel room, Kevin Porter Jr. allegedly asked the establishment's security to help him return, according to the story reported by several media. That's when he attacked his partner, former WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick. The couple was seen at an event during Fashion Week.

Chosen in the first round of the NBA draft in 2019, Porter Jr. played one season for the Cleveland Cavaliers before being traded to the Rockets in January 2021. The Houston club indicated in a press release “gathering information on the case” involving the player.
