Standard de Liège, ninth in the Belgian football championship standings, announced on Sunday that it was parting ways with its coach Carl Hoefkens, citing “disappointing” results.
“Following the disappointing sporting results, Standard de Liège has decided to end the collaboration with Carl Hoefkens,” the club said in a brief press release on its website. He specifies that he is now “looking” for a new coach.
Standard, who have not won in the league since a 1-0 success over Genk on November 25, are in 9th place in the standings with 23 points in 20 matches.
Carl Hoefkens leaves Liège with a record of five wins, eight draws and seven defeats, as well as an elimination in the round of 16 of the Belgian Cup at Anderlecht (2-0).
