Bundesliga: Harry Kane returned to England to treat his ankle

Harry Kane, injured in the ankle during Bayern Munich's victory over Darmstadt (5-2) on Saturday, will receive treatment in England where he is called up for two friendly matches with the Three Lions, the Bundesliga champion said on Sunday.

The England captain and all-time top scorer limped off the pitch in the 82nd minute after twisting his ankle when he tripped and fell into the Darmstadt net. At the start of the match, he scored his 31st goal of the season in the Bundesliga.

Coach Thomas Tuchel hoped after the match that the incident was "just a scare" and Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund later said Kane "wouldn't take any risks" with his ankle. The player will travel to the St George's Park training center where England will prepare for their matches against Brazil and Belgium on March 23 and 26 at Wembley.

Bayern's next match will be on March 30 at home against Borussia Dortmund. Kane suffered ankle problems several times while playing for Tottenham. In 2019 in particular, he was sidelined for three months due to two separate injuries to the same ankle.
