An X account (ex-twitter) without a profile photo and renamed “Blast”... The magazine Le Point was the victim of a hack Tuesday afternoon on this social network. The approximately 1 million people subscribed to this account, and who usually discover articles from the magazine, have seen fraudulent advertisements appear there. “These would be people who sell cryptocurrencies,” confirms to Le Figaro a source close to the editorial staff.
A first for Le Point which had never experienced such piracy. “Until now we had experienced computer attacks from Turkey and Russia, but no manipulation of this kind on our social networks,” he adds. Members of the editorial staff dedicated to social media management are mobilized to “restore our Twitter account as quickly as possible”. At 5:30 p.m., the account had regained its name “Le Point” and began to resume normal activity.
On the magazine's news feed, the last article published before this hack concerned the first elements of the investigation surrounding the gunshot wound of singer Kendji.
A month ago, the X accounts of BFM and RMC experienced a similar hack. Messages signed by the hacker group Epsilon called for the liberation of Palestine or made ironic comments about the Moscow attack on the Twitter feeds of the two channels. BFM and RMC had announced that they were taking legal action to identify the authors of this hacking. It cannot be ruled out that Le Point will initiate the same procedure.
