If Apple was impatient for the release of its new iPhone 15, its launch should be disrupted this Friday in certain stores in France. Following a meeting between staff representatives and the company, the unions intend to carry out their threat by mobilizing on September 22. “The strike has been made official,” announced this Wednesday in Le Figaro the Apple Retail France inter-union, which brings together the CFDT, Unsa, CGT and C.I.D.R.E.
The negotiations were not enough to appease the anger of the unions. “Management seems to be in total denial of the reality experienced by its employees,” launches the inter-union. The latter also affirms that going on strike “on the day the iPhone is released” represents “a crucial moment to make oneself heard”. The organizations particularly want “a significant salary increase”, the “end of the recruitment freeze”, “standardization of benefits” between all employees or even “a vision of the company's long-term strategies”.
Last week, the inter-union specified that the movement will be “national [with] rallies planned in front of certain Apple Stores, notably that of the Opera”, in the ninth arrondissement of Paris. If physical purchases are expected to be disrupted, Apple is certainly banking on its online sales, sheltered from strikers. Contacted, the Californian company has not yet reacted to this announcement.
