On TF1, “Hello!” and Plus belle la vie start with a bang

A fanfare start for “Hello!” and “Plus belle la Vie”. On Monday, TF1 inaugurated its first morning show since 1990, under the leadership of Bruce Toussaint. Warm decor, good humor... Broadcast from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Monday to Friday, “Hello!” welcomed for its kick-off the LR president of the Hauts-de-France region Xavier Bertrand then the singer Pascal Obispo, sponsor of the show, for a cultural interview. It aroused the curiosity of 512,000 viewers, or 15% of the public. At the end of the show, a peak of 739,000 viewers was even recorded.

The new program, punctuated by a news every 30 minutes, multiple interventions from the regions, as well as columns on well-being, health, family, innovation and even gastronomy, did much better than average of the box. It multiplied the audience by 4! In 2023, this time slot, dedicated to cartoons and teleshopping, brought together an average of 130,000 people, or 4% audience share (PDA). Far from the more than 700,000 faithful (26% PDA) of “Télématin” on France 2 or the approximately 400,000 viewers of the BFMTV morning show (17% PDA) last year. The front page was therefore largely behind. But the arrival of his morning news could reshuffle the cards.

TF1 can also rejoice. La Une, which revived “Plus belle la vie”, a cult French TV series, stopped on France 3 after 18 years of existence, achieved an audience success. The return of daily fiction was followed by 3 million viewers, just after the 1 p.m. news, or 29% of the public. And even 44% among housewives under 50, a preferred target for advertisers.
