Slipknot, metal legend, promises the release of an album written in 2008

Surprise in the metal world. Legendary band Slipknot announces they will release a new album. Or rather an old album, but never released. Look Outside Your Window is “an incredible work. You'll never hear another Corey Taylor like this. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life,” says one of Slipknot’s founding members, Micheal Shawn Crahan, nicknamed “Clown.”

Composed in 2008, the release of this “lost” album is planned for 2024. At the time of composition, the metal group was in fact releasing another album, All Hope Is Gone, which was to be paired with Look Outside Your Window. But the latter was considered too experimental.

In his interview with NME, the percussionist explained this long wait. Since its separation in 2022 with the label Roadrunner Records and the departures in 2023 of Craig Jones (keyboardist) and Jay Weinberg (drummer), Slipknot have let the storm pass and want to take advantage of their new freedom. “We’re here to have fun. This band has never been happier, and that means a lot because we've been through a lot – drugs, women, money, fame, ego, isolation. But we are on the right track,” assures Micheal Shawn Crahan.

The percussionist does not hide his enthusiasm. “The cover has been created. The music has been mixed. The mastering has been done. It will definitely be released in 2024 and it’s a very good album. Corey Taylor is my favorite singer of all time, and you'll never hear him sing like he does on this album again, so it was worth keeping. It’s such a different and timeless project,” he says.

In his interview with NME, the musician looks back on the band's next European tour planned for 2024. Among these current projects, "Clown" evokes the preparation of... another new album.

“Clown” finally touches on the preparation of a documentary about Slipknot. “I collected relics from our entire career, collected and organized it all. Let's say it's a documentary, but in reality, it could be a film. I recently signed a contract with some companies for this project and I will also find a director” he explains.

The documentary may include footage from their upcoming tour, planned for 2024 for the 25th anniversary of their debut album. Slipknot will be at the Accor Arena in Paris on December 12, 2024.
