Death at 49 of Kenneth Mitchell, figure of Star Trek: Discovery and Captain Marvel

Grey's Anatomy, CSI: Miami... but especially Star Trek: Discovery, a series in which he played the polymorphous Klingon villain Kol, Canadian actor Kenneth Mitchell died on February 24 at the age of 49 as a result of a neurodegenerative disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

The actor’s family announced the sad news in a press release published on Instagram, specifying that the actor had been ill since 2018: “Ken had suffered from sclerosis for five years. With his courage and his grace, he fought to try to live in a universe of joy.

Fans of the Star Trek series paid tribute to his talent on their dedicated site: “Thanks to his performance as Klingon Kol, Kenneth took a new look at Star Trek culture. Ultimately being a good guy or a bad guy will only be a question of perspective and above all a new way of understanding the storyline of the series.”

After a few more or less important supporting roles in the series, Kenneth Mitchell made his entry into the seventh art in The Recruit by Roger Donaldson, where he notably rubbed shoulders with Al Pacino and Colin Farrell. But it is Captain Marvel, in 2019, that his presence will mark the spirits. His interpretation of Carol “Avenger” Danvers’ father remains and will remain one of the highlights of this blockbuster which was one of the biggest successes of 2019.
