Aya Nakamura in Olympic form a few hours before the Flames ceremony

Monday in a Parisian restaurant with Brigitte Macron, Thursday on the stage of the Théâtre du Châtelet. Aya Nakamura intends to overcome the controversy over her participation in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. She will participate in the second edition of Les Flammes, this year, an awards ceremony dedicated to urban music. Competing in six categories, the 28-year-old singer dominates the selection for the ceremony celebrating rap and hip-hop. After having snubbed the first edition, which crowned her Female Artist of the Year, she will be present on Thursday to perform a few titles and undoubtedly win several prizes. This year, she is in the running for the album of the year award with DNK, for the music video and the song of the year with Baby, in which she takes a leap into the 2000s, plunging her fans back into the pop universe of Destiny's Child, the group where Beyoncé started.

Josman, the rapper from Vierzon, the Marseillais Alonzo and even Imen Es... Alongside him, around ten artists will perform on the stage of the Théâtre du Châtelet. Including many competitors who were already crowned last year. Among them, Gazo (5 nominations), Tiakola and Werenoi (4 nominations).

In 2023, during the first edition of Les Flammes, Nakamura and Gazo each won the Artist of the Year prize. And both are favorites again in this category, just two months after winning the equivalent trophy at the Victoires de la Musique.

The ceremony, broadcast live on W9, Twitch and YouTube, is scheduled to last three hours, hosted by around ten stage performances. In total, twenty-four trophies will be awarded to singers, composers, labels and productions. The list of candidates for the Eternal Flame, those for social commitment, launch strategy, label, show producer and international influence of the year had not yet been communicated as of Thursday noon.

If in Paris, around a hundred fans selected by Spotify, sponsor of the evening, are invited to the Théâtre du Châtelet, in Marseille, the other rap capital, 570 people will attend the broadcast from the Corbières fort. On the program: giant barbecue and open-air DJ set.
