In December, Social Security allocated a record amount of 12,120.8 million euros to the payment of the ordinary monthly payroll of contributory pensions, with a total of 10,111,991 contributory pensions for more than 9.2 million pensioners. Spending stands at 11.5% of GDP, according to data published today by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration. Almost three quarters of the contributory pension payroll for December corresponded to retirement pensions (73.1%) with 8,855 million.

2,012.6 million euros have been allocated to widow's pensions, while the payroll for permanent disability benefits amounts to 1,057 million, orphanhood benefits, 163.4 million euros, and benefits for family members. to 32.1 million.

Of the 10,111,991 contributory pensions paid, 6,424,813 are retirement pensions; 2,354,805, widowhood; 945,976, permanent disability; 340,866, for orphans and 45,531, in favor of relatives. The pension with the most beneficiaries is the retirement pension, with 6.3 million people.

The system's average pension amounts to 1,198.7 euros per month. This amount includes the different types of pension (retirement, permanent disability, widowhood, orphanhood and in favor of relatives). The average retirement pension, for its part, is 1,378.4 euros. By regime, the average retirement pension from the General Regime is 1,533.9 euros

monthly, while the lowest is recorded by the Self-Employed Regime, with 918.2 euros. In Coal Mining, the average monthly retirement amount is 2,688.9 euros, and it is 1,528.4 euros in the Sea Regime. The average amount of new retirement registrations in the system rose in the month of November from 2023, when the latest data is incorporated, up to 1,398 euros per month. For its part, the average widow's pension is 854.7 euros per month.

In December, 640,675 pensions received the gender gap supplement, of which 90.6% were women (580,091). The average monthly amount of this pension supplement is 65.3 euros. Of the 640,675 supplemented pensions, 23.3% correspond to pensioners with a child (149,212), who previously did not have access to the maternity supplement. 47.1% of the beneficiaries have two children (301,750); 19.2%, with three (123,264), and with four children, 10.4% (66,449).

The gender gap supplement, in force since February 2021, consists of a fixed amount, after the revaluation applied in 2023, of 30.40 euros per month per child, which is applied from the first child, unlike the maternity supplement former. It is requested at the same time as the pension is requested.

For its part, the monthly pension payroll for Passive Classes - military personnel and civilian personnel of the General Administration of the State, the Administration of Justice, the General Courts and other constitutional or state bodies - amounted to 1,506.4 million of euros in the month of November, the latest data available. This figure represents an increase of 156.1 million euros compared to the previous year, 11.6% more.
