October 7 attack: Germany wants to give financial compensation to Holocaust survivors

Germany will pay 220 euros to Holocaust survivors living in Israel to help them overcome the trauma of October 7, when Hamas attacked Israel by surprise and massacred nearly 1,200 civilians and soldiers, reports CNN in particular, relaying a statement from the German government.

“Many Holocaust survivors were particularly affected by Hamas attacks, whether through the loss of their homes or the loss of healthcare support systems,” the German Finance Ministry said.

This aid concerns 113,000 people and will amount to 25 million euros in total. According to the non-profit Conference on Jewish Material Claims against Germany, responsible for the payment, the payment will be made in one lump sum.

“In this exceptional and stressful situation for the victims of the Shoah, exacerbated by the anti-Semitism expressed throughout the world, the payment of 25 million euros is intended as a gesture of solidarity and support from Germany to towards Israel,” the German ministry also explained.
