After being sentenced to seven year imprisonment for awarding work to light the seafront promenade for nearly 500,000 euros, the councilors of the Popular Party of Garrucha have asked Maria Lopez to resign as president of the Association for the Fisheries Development of the Costa de Almeria.

After being sentenced to seven year imprisonment for awarding work to light the seafront promenade for nearly 500,000 euros, the councilors of the Popular Party of Garrucha have asked Maria Lopez to resign as president of the Association for the Fisheries Development of the Costa de Almeria.

They believe that Fernandez's continued management of the Local Action Group of the Fishing Sector is a serious damage to the image of the industry. Maria Lopez has been urged by the PP to "act with determination so as to not tarnish the image of a very significant for the town of Garrucha>>."

The councilors from the Popular Party also consider that if Fernandez does not stop, "he would be committing crime for not complying to the law since Cristobal is currently disqualified." Fernandez's sentence is appealingable.
