Several players and members of the Stade Français management team were sanctioned by the Parisian club for leaving without authorization after the defeat at Pau (30-6) on Saturday, the club announced Thursday, confirming information from the newspaper L'Equipe. Stade Français also confirmed in a press release “the altercation between one of its players and a member of the Pau staff”, during this outing in the town of Béarn. According to the regional daily La République des Pyrénées and the France Bleu website, the culprit would be the Samoan third row Giovanni Habel-Kuffner, who played seven seasons at... Pau.

At the end of the defeat against the Section Paloise, the second in a row after that conceded at home in the Ile-de-France derby against Racing 92 (9-13), “several players and two members of the staff took, in the evening , the decision to go out into town despite the instructions from sports management to stay in the hotel,” confirmed the Parisian club.

Giovanni Habel-Kuffner allegedly punched a member of the Paloise Section management in the face during this outing. The latter could file a complaint. After these incidents, Stade Français conducted an internal investigation and took the decision to sanction the offenders, the club added, without however specifying the nature of the sanctions.

Third in the championship with 23 points, Stade Français will host Stade Toulousain on Sunday, which occupies sixth place with also 23 points, during the 9th day of the Top 14.
