“Mom, Dad, please don’t die”: in the United States, a nine-year-old child saves the lives of his parents injured in a tornado

He became the hero and darling of thousands of Americans. Branson Baker, 9, managed to save the lives of his parents, who were seriously injured after being caught in a tornado with their car.

Last week, numerous tornadoes swept through the Great Plains of the central United States, killing at least five people, including four in Oklahoma, where the Baker family lives. This toll could have increased by two people, if Branson Baker had not come to the aid of his parents.

The scene took place in the town of Dickson, reports KTVT. As the Baker family tried to reach a friend's storm shelter, their car got caught in the eye of a tornado and was thrown into a tree. The parents, Marvin Wayne Baker and Lindy Baker, were seriously injured but their son, Branson, was miraculously unhurt.

The little boy then encourages his parents. “Mom, Dad, please don’t die. I will come back,” he told his parents, according to the testimony of his uncle Johnny Baker to the American press. Finding his way in the darkness and chaos, the little boy finally managed to warn the neighbors, allowing his parents to be rescued. It was about time, as both Marvin Wayne and Lindy suffered broken backs, necks and ribs.

The father of the family broke his arm and even lost part of his finger, while his wife suffered a punctured lung, broken jaw and hand. The days of Marvin Wayne and Lindy Baker are no longer in danger. But they won't be able to work for a while. A hard blow for this couple of bakers. To help them, an online prize pool has been launched, according to our colleagues at KTVT. This Monday, May 6, it already shows more than 70,000 dollars. This evening, the Branson baseball team also organized a fundraiser.
