Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, 22, was named best player of the season in Serie A on Friday, where he made his debut last summer and won the league title with Napoli.
This honorary title was established after analyzing the statistics but also the movements of all the players in the championship, recorded electronically, specifies the Serie A League which will award the prize to the Georgian on Sunday at the Diego Maradona stadium before Napoli's last match against Sampdoria Genoa.
Quickly nicknamed "Kvaradona", the young player who arrived to compensate for the departure of captain Lorenzo Insigne last summer has largely contributed to the title and the good run in the Champions League, where Napoli reached the quarter-finals for the first time. He scored 14 goals in all competitions, including 12 in the league where he is also the best passer (10 assists).
By positions, Serie A singled out two other Napoli players: Nigerian Victor Osimhen as best striker and South Korean Kim Min-jae as best defender.
The other winners of this end-of-season list are Nicolo Fagioli (Juventus) in the under-23s, Ivan Provedel (Lazio Rome) for goalkeepers and Nicolo Barella (Inter Milan) for midfielders.
