Serie A: Chiesa uncertain but Vlahovic back with Juventus to challenge AC Milan

Juventus Turin will recover its Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic for the clash against AC Milan on Sunday during the 9th day of the Italian Championship, said Saturday its coach who does not yet know if he will be able to count on Federico Chiesa .

“Vlahovic has trained all this week and he is good,” Massimiliano Allegri said at a press conference. I don't know yet if he will start. If he starts the match, he won't play the whole game, that's a certainty, he doesn't have 90 minutes in his legs. It is also possible that he enters during the match, I will make my decision after the last training of the day,” continued the Juve coach. “It’s important to get him back, because he scored important goals,” he added.

Vlahovic missed Juve's last two games due to back pain and skipped Serbia's matches during the international break. The 23-year-old striker has scored four goals in six league appearances this season.

“As far as Chiesa is concerned, he did half of training (Friday), we will decide (this Saturday), if we can call him up, if he is calm,” explained Allegri. Chiesa, 25, missed Juventus' last match, the Turin derby win 2-0, and withdrew Italy's two Euro 2024 qualifying matches due to thigh muscle problems.

The striker, who suffered a long knee injury last season, has scored four goals in seven matches this season. “We hope that he will be available, because he is an important player and we are playing an important match,” warned Allegri.

The Piedmontese coach also brushed aside the idea that this clash between the Milanese leader and his team, 3rd with four points, could be a turning point in the title race. “It's going to be a great match, a difficult match too (...) But there are four teams who can aim for the title, AC Milan, Inter, Juve and Naples. The important thing for us is to be in the top four in May,” he insisted.
