NBA: the Charlotte Hornets will part ways with their coach Steve Clifford

Steve Clifford lives his last matches on the bench of the Charlotte Hornets, 13th out of 15 in the Eastern Conference in the NBA. According to ESPN and renowned journalist Adrian Wojnarowski, the 62-year-old coach will leave his position at the end of the season. However, in the future he should occupy a role within sports management.

Clifford coached Charlotte between 2013 and 2018, qualifying the team for the playoffs twice (2014 and 2016) but never making it past the first round. He then led the Orlando Magic (2018-21) before returning to North Carolina. The franchise will thus continue its reconstruction. Last year, Michael Jordan, majority owner for 13 years, sold the club to a group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall.

The Hornets have a record of 18 wins for 57 losses, and have notably lost 8 of their last 9 matches. The physical problems of their All-Star leader LaMelo Ball, who only played 22 matches this season, precipitated their fall.
