NBA: Rajon Rondo announces the end of his career

American point guard Rajon Rondo, double NBA champion with the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers, announced Tuesday the end of his career, at the age of 38.

Rondo had not played in the North American championship since the end of the 2021-2022 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"It's over. I can no longer return to the NBA, he explained to the “All The Smoke” podcast. “I prefer to spend time with my children.”

A player with strong character, a skilled passer and with excellent vision of the game, Rondo contributed to the 17th and final coronation of the Boston Celtics in 2008 during his second NBA season, alongside the “Big3” Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen.

Twelve years later, he played a key role coming off the bench with LeBron James' Los Angeles Lakers, champions in 2020 in the anti-Covid bubble in Orlando, thus being titled with the two biggest franchises in the league.

In 957 NBA games, Rondo averaged 9.8 points, 7.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds.
