Jorge Martin (Ducati-Pramac), second in the MotoGP World Championship, piled up points by winning the sprint race of the Thai Grand Prix on Saturday, which leader Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) finished in seventh place. The Spanish driver is 18 points closer to the Italian title holder, who started the 17th round of the season (out of 20) with a lead of 27 units.
This is the fifth sprint race won in a row by the Madrilenian, who will start the Grand Prix on Sunday from pole position. Bagnaia, sixth fastest in qualifying, lost three positions in the first round. He saved three points by finishing seventh. South African Brad Binder (KTM) and Italian Luca Marini (Ducati-VR46) complete the sprint podium.
