Up against the wall after being disappointing on Friday during qualifying practice where he only took 15th place, the Italian, who is 21 points ahead of the Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati-Pramac) while he still has 37 maximum to collect this weekend in Valencia, will therefore participate in Q2 alongside his rival. Already very fast during the free practice sessions held just before Q1, the Turinese established a new lap record on the Ricardo-Tormo circuit and put pressure on the Madrilenian.
The Spaniard Alex Marquez (Ducati-Gresini), who had set the best time in free practice, took second place and won his ticket to Q2. Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), on the other hand, finished fifth and will start in 15th position during the sprint on Saturday and the Grand Prix on Sunday.
