Christophe Galtier can be relieved. This Thursday, while the public prosecutor, Damien Martinelli, had demanded a fine of 45,000 euros and a suspended prison sentence of 12 months, the Nice criminal court acquitted the former PSG coach, accused of discrimination and moral harassment during his stay in Nice (2021-2022). Questioned by RMC Sport, Maître Martin, one of the Marseillais advisors, spoke about this victory.
“It’s a reaction of relief. For many months now, the heinous accusations of which Christophe Galtier was the victim had caused significant damage to his life as a man and his professional career. We were experiencing a situation of anxiety. We want to see this decision as a release but also a total rehabilitation. May calm return to Christophe, his loved ones, his family. This decision is also a satisfaction for the defense. We were able to deconstruct the offenses unfairly defended by the Prosecutor's Office, namely discrimination and harassment.
We were able to demonstrate the manipulation that had been carried out and the exploitation that had been made of certain situations or certain comments, with the avowed aim of harming the man and the professional reputation of Christophe Galtier (…) This decision is a call to saving order. Justice takes place in the courtrooms, within the framework of a contradictory debate, with magistrates. She’s not getting on late-night talk shows or YouTube by incompetent pseudo-journalists.”
