Kobbie Mainoo, 18-year-old Manchester United player, has been called up for the first time for the England team for their upcoming friendly matches, against Brazil and Belgium, the English Federation announced on Tuesday.

“He is a player who still has room for improvement but he has made a fantastic start to his career and it will be important to keep an eye on him in the future,” said Gareth Southgate, the England coach, last February.

This season, the Manchester United-trained midfielder has played twenty matches, including two in the Champions League. He scored two goals, one in the cup and another in the league.

His performances caught the eye of the England coach and Kobbie Mainoo dropped out of the British Under-21 squad, where he had initially been called up. With this call-up, he has the chance to prove himself to, perhaps, win a ticket to Euro 2024 scheduled from June 14 to July 14 in Germany.
