Foot: Adidas boss considers “inexplicable” the amount promised by Nike to the Mannschaft

This Friday, the boss of the sports equipment manufacturer Adidas judged “inexplicable” the sum promised by his great rival Nike to win his historic contract with the German football team, in an interview with AFP. According to the German daily Handelsblatt, the American giant has committed to paying at least 100 million euros to the German football federation from 2027, or double what Adidas currently pays, which will thus lose a related partner by more than 70 years of common history.

Bjørn Gulden also indicated that the brand with the three stripes would make an offer at “an appropriate price” to try to become France's equipment supplier again, under contract with Nike until 2026, warning that it would not go beyond beyond a certain amount during the call for tenders to be launched soon by the French Federation (FFF). As many national federations prepare to launch calls for tenders, the German company will "make offers where it makes sense, at a price that suits us and, beyond that, we will not participate", warned the Norwegian leader.
