Champions League: Bayern will do everything to “finish the season at Wembley”, announces Tuchel

“You won’t find any semi-finalists who don’t want to go to the final. We will do everything to finish the season at Wembley,” underlined Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel, after Bayern Munich qualified for the semi-finals. “We showed a superb team performance. We are all super happy. I'm happy for my staff, for the club, for the team. It’s anything but logical to win against such a team,” appreciated Thomas Tuchel.

Bayern Munich won with a headed goal from Joshua Kimmich shortly after the hour mark, a goal which allowed the Munich team to reach the semi-finals of the premier competition of European football for the first time since its last rite at the end of August 2020. “The first period was a game of chess, no one wanted to sacrifice a piece or open the game. If we made the difference in the experience, it was in the second half,” said the Munich technician, forced to leave this summer by his management after a series of poor results in February.

For another place in the final, Bayern will face Real Madrid in the semi-finals, with a first leg in Bavaria and a return match in Spain. “I don't think we are favorites in this situation. Real Madrid, I would tend to say “Who else?”. What about Carlo Ancelotti? “Who else?” Tuchel joked.

“Winning at Manchester City is clearly a signal sent (Real drew 1-1 and won on penalties, Editor's note). The match cost us a lot. We are proud to be in the semi-finals. We will see in two weeks, we will do everything to finish the season at Wembley,” concluded Tuchel, satisfied with his team’s overall performance against Arsenal.
