Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy scored his 24th goal of the season in the Bundesliga, to offer victory to Stuttgart (1-0) on the pitch of Borussia Dortmund, Saturday evening, allowing the Swabian club to take an important step towards the League champions.
Six days before the end of the season, Stuttgart consolidates its third place with 60 points, returning to a tie with Bayern Munich, in full shipwreck on Saturday afternoon in Heidenheim (3-2). The Munich residents only retain second place on goal difference (44 against 30).
Stuttgart is above all seven points ahead of RB Leipzig, winner in Friborg (4-1), and Borussia Dortmund, who will have a duel for the fourth and final qualifying place for the next Champions League, Stuttgart and Bayern having a small margin over their two pursuers.
As often this season, Stuttgart relied on its center forward Serhou Guirassy to bring down the BVB in its Westfalenstadion, a stadium which celebrated its 50th anniversary on Saturday. He scored his 24th goal in the German championship, to equal the club record held by Mario Gomez in the 2008/09 season.
Four days before a trip to Madrid to face Atlético in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League, Dortmund carried out the poor operation of the day, and found themselves once again under pressure from Leipzig.
