The brand new African champion Sébastien Haller suffers from a sprained ankle and will be absent for several weeks, his club Borussia Dortmund announced on Friday.
The Ivorian striker was injured in the African Cup of Nations final, which the Elephants won 2-1 on Sunday night against Nigeria, with Haller scoring the title goal.
The center forward, who is 29 years old, underwent examinations in Dortmund this Friday which revealed a relapse of a previous sprain in his right ankle contracted against Mainz in mid-December, Dortmund said in a press release. Since the start of the season, Haller has still not scored with Dortmund in the league or the Champions League.
