Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka will be out for several matches after breaking his hand in Saturday's German league victory over Mainz, the Bavarian club announced on Sunday.
Goretzka, who scored the third goal for the reigning champions (3-1) in this match, broke a bone in one hand, without his club specifying which one, and was operated on Sunday morning.
He will therefore miss Bayern's trip to Turkey, to face Galatasaray in the Champions League, as well as the next Bundesliga match against Darmstadt next Saturday. Goretzka joins an already well-stocked list of injured players on the Bavarian side.
In addition to captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who has been absent for 10 months following a broken right leg, the German club is without Serge Gnabry (broken left forearm), Noussair Mazraoui, Raphael Guerreiro and Dayot Upamecano ( muscle problems).
