There will be no Russian or Belarusian athletes at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, International Athletics Federation President Sebastian Coe said on Friday, after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) gave the green light for their participation under neutral flag.
“You may see Russian or Belarusian athletes under a neutral flag in Paris, but it will not be in athletics,” Sebastian Coe said during a videoconference. “The position of our sport remains unchanged, it is a firm position,” he added. Russian and Belarusian athletes have been banned from competition by World Athletics since early March 2022, in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
