Couple rescued from skrækkens house: Witness murdered

Police in the Spanish city of Cádiz has rescued an older couple, who had been ill-treated in 'a skrækkens house'.

They had been robbed by a German-cuban man and a cuban woman, who are accused of several killings, theft and fraud for nearly two million euros over four years.

There is an older Dutch woman and an older German man who was in a critical condition when they were found. They had been bound and locked in their room for several months.

Here they had been tube feeding via a hose and had been heavily drugged with medication. It is unclear how old they were, but now they're in a hospital, where their condition has improved sharply, writes AFP.

the Police came on the track of skrækhuset after German police reported the wealthy 101-year-old woman Maria Babes missed. Since she moved from Tenerife to Cadiz, she had not given signs.

Maria Babes was subsequently found in a ældrebolig in the town of Chiclana de la Frontera in Cadiz, where she arrived in bad condition.

Maria Babes told police that she had met the pair in Tenerife, where they had been kind and offered to care for her. When she arrived at the couple's house in Cádiz, she was wearing handcuffs and held in confinement for several months.

Maria Babes had in October had around 162.000 euro in the bank. In the middle of december she had 300 euros and the house in Tenerife was sold. Without that she had received a penny for the sale.

The cuban-German couple is now in custody, while the investigation is going on.

But before the pair was arrested, they took, according to police on the nursing home and abducted Maria Babes from ældreboligen. Five hours later she was found dead in a badly burned state, that the police could not find traces of the pair.

When he and his wife were subsequently arrested, police found at the same time out that they had a second house, which they rented, in the vicinity. Here they found the Dutch woman and the German man who was imprisoned.

at the same time, police found out that the Dutch woman had been forced to pretend to be Maria Babes, as the pair sold her home in Tenerife.

Police also found four other persons, who had been detained in the course of the four years, and who had died after the pair had got hold of their fortunes.

Four people are arrested for having helped the German-cuban man and the cuban woman. The Spanish police have asked for help in the matter from the police in the Uk, Italy, Germany and Cuba.
