Cancer is the most common cause of death in men

2016 died in Switzerland, a total of 64'964 people, four per cent less than in the previous year, as released Monday by statistics of causes of Death. The absolute number of 17'201 cancer deaths has not changed compared to the previous year, practically. It is striking according to the report, that lung cancer in women continues to increase ( 115 people). Breast cancer remained constant.

Increased life expectancy

For women, the life expectancy was in Switzerland to 2016 to 85.3 years (2015: EUR 84.9 years), men had a such of 81.5 years (2015: EUR 80.7 years).
