Eight percent of Germans want a king

According to a survey, eight percent of Germans in Germany would like a king or queen as their representative head of state instead of the Federal President. As the magazine "Stern" on Tuesday in Hamburg on the occasion of the upcoming visit of the British King Charles III. reported, the Forsa Institute measured almost the same value as in 2015. At that time, nine percent were in favor of it.

On the other hand, the vast majority of 89 percent of German citizens – across all population and voter groups – would not think it would be good if there were a parliamentary monarchy in Germany. A slightly greater sympathy for a king or a queen tends to be expressed at 15 percent by respondents who place themselves on the right-wing political spectrum and at 14 percent by AfD supporters. The Green voters are the least at three percent.

Charles III is coming to Germany at the end of March before being officially crowned in May. Forsa interviewed 1005 people for the RTL group Germany on March 16th and 17th.
