"My Hobby was to watch Cheetah videos on Youtube," says Sangbae Kim, Professor of mechanical engineering at mit. Inspired by the fastest animal in the world challenged Kim and two of his doctoral students, to develop a robots that can move similar to graceful. This Mini-cheetahs came up with 12 engines.
cheetahs can reach a Ggeschwindigkeit of up to 120 km/h. The robot might be able to create only about 10 km/h. for that, you can srprngen, even somersaults and back of their legs to land. At the moment they are controlled still remote, would be the goal, however, is that they work independently.
Drone, U-Boot and ...?
"We have conquered the air and sea transport, but not the mobility on the ground," says Kim. None of the current transport technologies could reliably travel on the natural soil, or even in artificial environments with stairs and curbs. Dynamic robot should help to conquer the mobility on the ground.

In hopes Sangbae Kim, to develop a robot that elderly people can help: "robots can not only address the expected shortage of labour in the care of the elderly, but also to maintain the need for privacy and Dignity". Another goal of the Professor is that the robot may one day save a life. It is not yet clear whether the robot carry the victim or a carrying device would bring. "Our current model can at least see if there are victims, or other potentially dangerous events."
