The new experimental therapy is made possible thanks to the research on the stem cells of the liver conducted by the group of Giovanni Camussi Department of Medical Sciences of the University of Turin with the Centre of Molecular Biotechnology of the University of Turin. The study is the result of a collaboration between the Regina Margherita hospital and the hospital Molinette, both related to the City of the Health of Turin, Interdepartmental Research Center for Molecular Biotechnology of the University of Turin (Mbc) and the company biomedical Unicyte AG.
The clinical trial was conducted at the Queen Margaret by Marco Spada , director of Pediatrics and the Regional Centre for the treatment of metabolic diseases, Queen Margaret, assisted by Francis Port . the Renato Romagnoli , director of the Center for Transplantation of the Liver Convention, and Doric Staves , director of the Radiology department of the Molinette hospital, have had a clinical role primarily in the quality of the co-investigators in this pioneering study. Also essential is the contribution of the Laboratory of the Center for Transplantation of stem Cells and Cell Therapy of Queen Margaret, directed by Franca Fagioli , and of the Coordinating Center of Transplantation, directed by Antonio Amoroso .
