Video games: the highly anticipated Super Mario Bros Wonder is released this Friday

The most famous plumber on the planet is back. Six years after Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Bros Wonder is released this Friday, an adventure this time in 2D, like the first titles in the series. Available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch console, this new platform game offers fans the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Mario and his traveling companions. With nostalgia, players can find codes from previous games. Indeed, they can evolve in different universes depending on the levels, by jumping on enemies or passing through pipes without forgetting, in the process, to collect coins and break bricks.

However, if the way of playing remains the same, the environment is completely new. Exit here the Mushroom Kingdom over which Princess Peach reigns, in favor of the Kingdom of Flowers. The owner, Prince Florian, invited Mario and his friends to visit him. But as always, Mario's enemy, Bowser, comes to cause trouble and merges with the castle after coming into contact with a strange flower. The flower in question is the key element of this new game: it regularly disrupts the course of the game and the scenery, each time Mario crosses its path.

Beyond the story and these mysterious flowers, other new features await players. For example, they can transform into a giant elephant, fly by transforming Mario's cap into a hang glider or even grab the pipes characteristic of the universe to crush enemies.

And, if they get tired of playing with Mario, don't worry: they can also play as Luigi, the mushrooms Toad and Toadette, or even the princesses Peach and Daisy. Nintendo also wants to encourage players to experience the adventure together. So, up to four people can play together on the same screen or online.

Sold for 49.99 euros, Super Mario Bros Wonder promises to be one of the successes of this end of year on the Nintendo Switch. Already last spring, the Japanese group's latest production, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, had a record launch. The game sold more than 10 million copies worldwide just three days after its release. Becoming, at the same time, the fastest-selling opus of the entire saga. Super Mario Odyssey has sold more than 26 million copies since its release in 2017.
