The social network Threads exceeds 2.6 million downloads in Europe in three days

Designed as a rival to X (formerly Twitter), Threads, Meta's new application, was launched on Thursday December 14 in Europe. In three days, it was downloaded more than 2.6 million times on the Old Continent, including 1.4 million on the first day, according to data transmitted to Le Figaro from the Data.AI firm, specialist in data analysis. mobile data.

Italy is in first position with 1.06 million downloads, followed by Germany with 550,000 installations and France (440,000). Spain and Poland follow, respectively with 350,000 and 45,000 downloads.

Threads was officially launched worldwide last July. But Meta had to block access to all European users while it adapted to new European Union regulations, the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Before its arrival in Europe, the platform had just under 100 million monthly users worldwide, according to figures communicated by Mark Zuckerberg last October.

The rapid adoption of Threads can be explained by its strong links with another very popular social network from the Meta group, Instagram. Each user of this application can in fact create their Threads profile in one click, and find their subscribers there in an instant. Internet users, politicians, institutions and European athletes are starting to invest in this new social network.

Threads is a “micro-blogging” platform that presents a news feed where text messages follow one another, with the possibility of adding photos and videos, with which it is possible to interact via “likes” , “repost” or replies.

This application garnered 100 million registrations in five days upon its global launch in July. But then the pace slowed down and the euphoria subsided. To continue to attract new users, Meta has therefore regularly added features, such as the possibility of making vocal “threads”, which are very popular.

In total, Threads has been downloaded 40.3 million times in the United States since July. Among 9 million users in the UK, 4.5 million flocked in the period July to December. That's as much as on the first launch weekend. The first days of startup are therefore always crucial, especially for Threads, at a time when its rival X is the target of a “formal investigation” by the European Union.
