Fuels: prices at the pump continue to soar ahead of another weekend of departures

The addition is increasingly heavy for tricolor motorists. Prices at the pump are indeed continuing their spectacular surge, which began in early July, according to calculations by Fig Data, based on public data from the Ministry of Energy Transition. Bad news that occurs at the time of departures on vacation and the great crossovers of the summer. And that spares no fuel.

Nevertheless, it is diesel that remains the most affected. A liter costs an average of 1.8289 euros, or almost seven cents more than last week. Unheard of since April. Gasoline follows a similar trend. The price of SP-98 is approaching the two euro mark (1.9876), up 3.5 cents over the past seven days. Just like that of the SP-95 (1.9383 euro) and the E10 (1.9216 euro).

Over the whole of 2023, the SP-98 has increased in price by 4.7%, the SP-95 by 4.9% and the E10 by 6%. Conversely, the price of diesel has fallen by 4.2%, going from the status of the most expensive fuel on January 1 to that of the most advantageous at present, despite recent increases.

As a reminder, since March 1 and until the end of the year, the prices of diesel and SP-95 are capped at 1.99 euros in TotalEnergies service stations. A gesture made under pressure from the government.

This increase is linked to that of oil prices. The barrel of Brent also saw its price soar in July (13.7%). Blame it on the reduction in Saudi production which will be extended at least until September. This policy could continue well beyond the start of the school year, and even be "strengthened", announced the Saudi Ministry of Energy. Not enough to reassure the tricolor drivers …
