CNews, France's leading news channel for a whole week

In the general audience rankings, BFMTV has always remained the leader. But its supremacy finds itself increasingly attacked. After being overtaken several times by CNews on certain days, the Altice group's news channel has just lost a round, this time in terms of weekly audiences. Last week, CNews became the first continuous news channel in France, confirming its rise to power.

With 2.7% audience, the Vivendi group's news channel, up 0.7 points over the week, overtook its competitor BFMTV, which attracted 2.5% of the public (-0.2 points ). Unheard of since the creation of CNews on February 27, 2017. LCI, with 1.6% of the public over the week, is down 0.4 points. As for the public service news channel Franceinfo, it has 0.8% of the audience, up 0.1 point.

Already in November, BFMTV remained at the top of the news channels with 2.8% of the audience, up 0.1 points compared to the same period a year earlier. But the gap with CNews had narrowed. The Vivendi group's news channel, of which Pascal Praud is one of the headliners, gained 0.4 points over one year. And, with 2.5% of the audience, it was close behind the leader BFMTV.

Since the beginning of December, CNews is now in the lead with 2.67% of the public, compared to 2.52% for BFMTV. The games are not over yet. The Altice group's news channel could very well raise the bar over the next two weeks.
