Apple now offers refurbished iPhones, 15% cheaper than new products

This is a revolution, you could say. Since March 5, Apple has been offering refurbished iPhones for purchase. For the moment, the tech giant only displays the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 Pro Max models on its site. But the range could be expected to grow. Because at a time when purchasing power is under pressure, the Apple brand understands the interest of this niche and intends to compete with large companies in the sector such as Certideal, BackMarket, AsGoodAsNew or reBuy. Although the market is certainly already very competitive, it remains in full expansion. “It is expected to grow by nearly 10% per year by 2026,” estimates the International Data Corporation (IDC).

To stand out, Apple focuses on “quality that meets brand standards.” The parts changed are original and all devices are delivered with official Apple accessories (charging cables and operating system). All in a new authentic box. “A new battery, a new external case as well as delivery and return are free (within 14 days),” promises the multinational. Apple also wants to reassure customers by including a “one-year after-sales service guarantee and 90 days of free technical support”.

Known for its high prices, the Tech giant does not break with this image, even for second-hand products. By choosing a refurbished 128 GB iPhone 13, with standard warranty, the bill amounts to €639. Prices much higher than what can be found among the competition since the same reconditioned product, sold by the market leader BlackMarket, will cost around €507. The biggest discounts offered by Apple are around 15% of the new purchase price. While the competition's discounts range between 20% and 30%.
