An Anglet-Dortmund journey of more than 1,340 km, another at 2,202 euros... Uber unveils its records for the year 2023

A great year for Uber. The American VTC driver platform, particularly popular with Parisians, has just revealed its most unusual journeys, either in terms of their length or their cost. And this year, the longest race allowed a couple to reach the town of Anglet, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques (64), to that of Datteln, near Dortmund, in Germany. In total, the driver traveled more than 1,340 km to connect the Basque Country to North Rhine for a price of 2,100 euros. A 14-hour journey that the driver Zouhir himself had the opportunity to tell about to our colleagues from France Bleu Pays Basque.

The facts date back to July 31, in the heart of summer. “They explained to me that the prices of accommodation during the Bayonne holidays were excessively expensive, and that there was no longer any availability at the nearest airport,” he testified, explaining that his customers were “super friendly” and “slept most of the way.” “I was fresh, I was motivated so that was it,” he says today, before specifying that he still “took all the necessary breaks”.

And if Zouhir broke the record for the longest race, the previous one dated from 2020 with a 1129 km race between Marseille, in Bouches-du-Rhône, and Brittany, he did not beat that of the race The most expensive. This was carried out between the Gare de l'Est, in the heart of Paris, and Munich, the capital of Bavaria, in Germany, and cost the tidy sum of 2,202 euros. Other journeys cost more than 2,000 euros, between the 19th arrondissement of Paris and the Netherlands, or another between Montpellier and Berlin. Conversely, the shortest race was recorded in Savigny-sur-Orge, in Essonne (91). This only lasted a few seconds, enough time to cover 300 meters.

Unsurprisingly, it was in Paris that Uber trips were most numerous, ahead of Nice, Lille, Bordeaux and Lyon. A year marked by the appearance of Lille and the disappearance of Marseille in the ranking of French cities which use the platform the most this year. Like last year, it is the Americans, the English and the Brazilians who arrive on the podium of Uber's most consuming international customers, out of the more than 85 nationalities who used our services in France in 2023.

And it is logically in Paris that the two busiest days were recorded: first last Saturday June 24, during Men's Fashion Week, then, more recently, Saturday September 30, when the World Cup rugby as well as Women's Fashion Week were organized concurrently.

Other records highlighted by some of the 5 million Uber users in France: that of Justin, “addict” to the platform, “who made 1,339 trips this year”. That’s 3.5 races per day. Or that of Vincent, described as “flawless”, “who carried out 289 races and gave 289 tips to the drivers who carried out the races”. Finally, Uber would like to thank one of its best VTC drivers: a man named Serge, who would have completed no less than 7,684 trips, just in the past year, “with the extraordinary score of 4.97”.
