Amélie Verdier leaves Ile-de-France hospitals to take over as head of the tax service

The current director general of the Île-de-France Regional Health Agency (ARS), Amélie Verdier, has been appointed head of the General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFiP), a government source said on Wednesday.

This 46-year-old senior civil servant, an enarque from the same promotion as Emmanuel Macron, succeeds Jérôme Fournel, who became chief of staff to the Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire, during the ministerial reshuffle in January.

At the DGFiP, who could not immediately be reached to comment on this information, the interim is currently provided by Antoine Magnant, the deputy director general of this department responsible in particular for tax collection and which reports to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Graduated with a degree in history from the Panthéon-Sorbonne University and Sciences Po, she rubbed shoulders on the benches of the National School of Administration (ENA), within the Léopold-Sédar-Senghor promotion, several personalities from the political world, with sometimes meteoric rises, including the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron.

Amélie Verdier joined the General Inspectorate of Finance in 2004 - at the same time as Emmanuel Macron -, then in 2007 the Budget Directorate at Bercy, where she notably held the position of deputy director.

From 2012 to 2014, under the presidency of François Hollande, she was chief of staff to the Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, Jérôme Cahuzac (PS) then, after his fall in a tax fraud case, to Bernard Cazeneuve. She was also deputy chief of staff to Pierre Moscovici when he was Minister of Economy and Finance.

Amélie Verdier was recruited in 2014 as general secretary of Assistance publique-Hôpitaux de Paris, alongside Martin Hirsch, who was High Secretary for active solidarity against poverty within the government of François Fillon, under the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy .

In addition, she was appointed in August 2021 director of the ARS of Île-de-France, which coordinates the regional health system, after having held the position of Budget Director for more than four years, since 2017, in Bercy.
