More than 4,000 km on a motorcycle without refueling? Acerbis has achieved it... With a Spanish

It seems incredible, but it is true: a motorcycle can travel more than 4,000! kilometers with a single tank of fuel. This is what Acerbis has just achieved, (in collaboration with RedMoto, the Italian importer of Honda and Repsol, which has supplied the biofuel) traveling no less than 4,183.8 kilometers (the journey between the company's headquarters in Albino, in Italy , and North Cape, in Norway) without stopping to refuel.

The feat is far from trivial, since it is a Guinness Record with which the Italian company specialized in plastic solutions (accessories) for motorcycles and motorcycle clothing celebrates its 50th Anniversary. Arriving at the North Cape from its headquarters, it has already achieved it, but the matter does not stop there since there is still fuel in the tank designed by Acerbis, so the distance can still be extended.

Of course, the record has a little 'trick' since the small Honda Monkey model that has served as a vehicle for the trip does not have a conventional tank, but is equipped with the largest tank ever built, the AC50, with capacity for no less than 108 liters of fuel, a figure that almost multiplies by 20 the tank capacity of the standard motorcycle, which is 5.6 liters and which is 'embraced' to the chassis.

Even so, the consumption is remarkably low since taking into account the average has been 2.5 liters per hundred kilometers, just one more than what was declared by Honda in the technical specifications of the Monkey. To achieve this, a route especially conducive to efficiency has been designed and three experienced pilots have been hired to take over from their controls in a total of 15 team members: 14 Italians, with Andrea Rastrelli and Maurizio Vettor as pilots; and the Spanish Alicia Sornosa, the first Spanish-speaker to go around the world on a motorcycle (see interview below after achieving the record).

In addition, the fuel used for the occasion is a renewable fuel from Repsol, which has used the adventure as a test bench for its next commercialization, scheduled for the end of 2023. Along with the oil company, other companies have participated, such as Garmin and SKF.

The route started in Albino, the headquarters of Acerbis, and also passed through Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, and ended in the North Cape. There, the three pilots who took turns on the back of the motorcycle, (including the Spanish adventurer Alicia Sornosa) arrived after signing an average speed of about 70 km/h.

The expedition has already received official recognition from the Guinness Book of Records, although it remains to be seen how far they can take the final record.
