Gadgets to take care of yourself with (artificial) intelligence

The so-called beauty technology market (beauty tech in English) has only just started. According to Statista figures, global purchases related to this segment, which includes cosmetics, skin care and personal care technology products, generated revenue of approximately $3.77 billion in 2021. According to company estimates, Beauty technology market revenue will rise continuously over the next five years, reaching $8.93 billion by 2026.

In fact, many traditional beauty brands are beginning to bet on technology in their products, either by applying artificial intelligence or augmented reality, such as L'oreál or Procter.

Focusing on the latter, Philips has become a great example of how everyday items can be smart. The Philips Series 9000 shaver, with SkinIQ technology, checks, guides and adapts the shave to each user. The brand ensures that it is the most intelligent shaver in the world thanks to the different sensors that indicate pressure changes in real time thanks to its ring of lights, and connected to a mobile application, it is capable of indicating the correct movement for the shaved off. In addition, it reads the density of the beard 500 times per second and adjusts to each area of the face. Its price is 272 euros.

The Dutch company also has a toothbrush equipped with artificial intelligence, Sonicare 9900 Prestige, with which it is almost impossible to brush your mouth wrong. SenseIQ technology detects pressure, movement, coverage and more, up to 100 times per second. In addition, it is capable of adapting the intensity if you brush too hard. Connected to the Sonicare mobile app, you can track brushing in real time, view progress reports, or get personalized recommendations. It costs 252 euros.

In the case of facial cleansing, the Swedish firm Foreo has been the queen for years. Its devices have carved a niche for themselves in the beauty sector and its different gadgets are an essential element in the facial care ritual. Last September the company launched the new Luna 4, a connected facial cleanser that offers personalized cleaning based on each user's skin type and problem areas and firms the skin with guided massages. It is sold for 279 euros.

In the case of hair, Dyson has several devices, such as its styler or irons, which apply the latest technology to take maximum care of hair. Likewise, the Supersonic dryer stands out for working with a powerful digital motor for fast drying and intelligent heat control to protect shine. It reaches 449 euros.

Weight control can also be intelligent thanks to devices such as the SPC Atenea Fit Pro. This scale incorporates eight electrodes that offer a very detailed report of body composition, beyond weight, and if connected to the mobile phone it is possible to monitor graphically the evolution of each metric by weeks or months. It is available for 99 euros.

In the case of stress or sleep control, the new Fitbit Sense 2 that the company has just introduced is a great ally. This smart watch is capable of identifying patterns that cause stress and notifying the user. In addition, it can detect changes in well-being, such as increases in body temperature or heart rate. It is reduced to 249 euros.
