Barbie, The Crown and Love Actually memorabilia up for auction to benefit war-affected children

Hulk, Barbie, Sex Education... Many souvenirs from these films and series are presented at the Spring Clean auction which takes place from April 25 to May 16, 2024. The profit from the items put up for sale will be donated to the War Child association, which works to protect, educate and defend the rights of child victims of war around the world.

No less than 70 items can be purchased - musical instruments, clothing, posters... Many actors and other personalities from the world of cinema and music have delved into their closets and personal archives to make donate unique memorabilia and support War Child.

Among the items up for auction is the original script for the 2003 romantic comedy Love Actually , starring Hugh Grant and Keira Knightley and directed by Richard Curtis. The script contains three new storylines that had “eventually been cut,” Curtis and screenwriter Emma Freud explain, “jokes that didn’t work and childish swearing that adults forced us to delete.”

The online auctions also contain items signed by the actors of the film Saltburn (2023), which sparked a lot of discussion about several scenes considered disturbing. The film team bounces back and offers for sale a bathtub stopper as well as a mini-bathtub.

The Crown team is also playing the game and the majority of the series' wardrobe is offered by Spring Clean. Clothes worn by actresses Emma Corrin, Imelda Staunton, Vanessa Kirby and Gillian Anderson can be purchased. Anderson, who plays the protagonist's mother in Sex Education, donated a jacket worn on the set of the series. The musicians also offered clothing including three T-shirts worn on stage and signed by the rock group Muse, as well as the coat worn by Neil Tennant on the cover of the album Loneliness by his group Pet Shop Boys.

Several musical instruments are available for auction, including a used drum head signed by Coldplay, a signed guitar owned by singer Ed Sheeran and a handmade guitar signed by numerous artists such as Noel Gallagher and Bob Geldof . We also find a work of art inspired by the title Running Up That Hill, a song by Kate Bush which has seen renewed interest thanks to Stranger Things, signed by the performer. Music groups Take That and The Chemicals Brothers brought signed show posters and other prints.

American actor John Lithgow donated clothes from the filming of the series The Old Man (2022), a signed copy of his memoirs and original illustrations from the sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun (1996). The most original lot offered for sale: a white casserole dish used and signed by the actor Stanley Tucci (The King’s Man, The Devil Wears Prada).

Other iconic items from the world of cinema are available: a Barbie poster autographed by Margot Robbie, a book and album of the film Maestro signed by Bradley Cooper, a Hulk figurine autographed by Avengers actor Mark Ruffalo, a screenplay from 'Evita (1996) signed by actor Jonathan Pryce, a poster of the 1997 musical Spice World signed by Mel C as well as a poster of Secret Invasion (2023) signed by Olivia Colman.

This is not the first time that an auction has been organized by the world of cinema to help victims of war. Earlier this month, the Cinema for Gaza sale, organized by a collective of London-based filmmakers to raise money for humanitarian aid in Palestine, raised more than £260,000.
