A Banksy makes spring in north London

A new work by British artist Banksy has appeared in the Islington district of north London. The street artist confirmed being the author on Monday on his Instagram account, where he usually claims the creation of his creations to his 12 million followers.

Taking advantage of the presence of a bare tree, the artist sprayed green paint on the blank wall of a building to represent, through a play of perspective, its foliage. The work features a stencil, typical of Banksy, of a person holding a sprayer, dripping green paint, as if they had just painted the mural.

The creation was praised on social networks, notably by the former leader of the Labor Party, Jeremy Corbyn, MP for the region where the fresco was created. “Banksy has come to Islington! What a wonderful work of art, proving that there is hope for our natural world everywhere,” he said on X.

An enigmatic artist, Banksy is known worldwide for his murals and stencil works, which fetch tens of millions of euros on the art market. He has concealed his identity since the start of his career. Several works by Banksy have already been stolen in the past, including a door from the Parisian Bataclan hall, which paid tribute to the victims of the attacks of November 13, 2015.

In December, in south London, a man was arrested on suspicion of having taken a road sign on which a work by the artist appeared. The work in question, three aircraft that appear to be combat drones on a stop sign, appeared on the morning of December 22 at a crossroads in the Peckham district of southeast London.
